The tree is somewhat stunted in appearance; it is probably a may tree. The bin is being used for the storage of seed corn, possibly used to feed pheasants. There was evidence not far away of pheasant rearing pens.

Some rather stunted bushes and a local authority wheelie bin overlook the edge of a field being used to grow a cereal crop.

The footpath can be seen in shadow to the left of the field of recently germinated cereal plants. The trees on the left skyline are in the next square north as is the ancient Iron Age hill fort on the high ground to the right.

The earthworks are probably Iron Age. They were used during and after the second world war as the target end of a rifle range that can be seen on the old 1:63300 (one inch to the mile) maps LinkExternal link
