Longchimney
Longchimney
The name derives from the long chimney on the side wall of the old part of the house. The white part of the house is the former winding engine house of the Venture Pit, known to have been in operation around 1820, and serving two shafts.
Poynton Collieries

Poynton was the centre of a small but thriving coal-mining industry which developed towards the end of the 18th century, flourished during the second half of the 19th century, and lasted, with a small number of relatively modern pits until the mid 1930s.
