Bridge for Nothing by Andy Beecroft
Bridge for Nothing

The bridge spans what was the trackbed of the former Market Weighton to Driffield railway. This railway was closed in the early 60s. In the fields at either side of the bridge, there's virtually no evidence that the railway ever existed. 50 yearly ploughings of the fields has seen to that! The bridge remains, I presume, because it would cost far more to remove this structure and its approach road embankments than would be worth (this is only a very minor road after all).
