Hospital overflow car park, Mendalgief Road, Newport
There is little parking space available in the grounds of the Royal Gwent Hospital. This 300-metre long, narrow car park, running parallel with the south side of Capel Crescent, is intended for use by those visiting the hospital.
The site was previously railway property, part of a freight route to Newport Docks. This view is from the far end of the car park, looking towards the Mendalgief Road entrance, where formerly stood a gated level crossing. The main entrance to the Royal Gwent Hospital is about a five minute walk away from the car park entrance (five minutes if you're able-bodied, of course... )
