Ludlow

Ludlow is a small town in South Shropshire. It is situated on a small hill on the eastern bank of a bend in the River Teme. The town has a long history dating back to Norman times and has nearly 500 listed buildings LinkExternal link , including a castle and one of the largest parish churches in the country. The old town was a 13th century planned grid iron town surrounded by a wall, with seven gates (only one remains). There are many examples of Tudor, Elizabethan and Georgian buildings. Today Ludlow is a thriving Market town with a healthy tourist trade. Described as "The most perfect town in England" - John Betjeman
