Pevsner LinkExternal link tells us in his definitive "The Buildings of England:Sussex" (Pevsner,N/Lloyd,D Penguin, Harmondsworth, 3rd edition 1977 ISBN 014071028 0) that the church "is west of the village on a bare site with a splendid view across the water meadows to Arundel; and that it is a typically Sussex church with a huge roof sweeping down over nave and aisle almost to the ground: high, narrow and majestic".
