Emperor Fountain, Chatsworth
Emperor Fountain, Chatsworth
The Emperor Fountain in the grounds of Chatsworth House is the tallest gravity fed fountain in the world and is capable of reaching 298 feet, although its normal operation, these days, is usually limited to 200 feet. It was designed and built by Joseph Paxton in 1843. Paxton subsequently went on to design the Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London. This view is taken from the first floor of the South side of Chatsworth House.
