Shadows on the mud, River Usk, Newport

Low tide on the River Usk reveals much mud in Town Pill, a tidal inlet. Town Pill formerly extended westwards to the edge of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal. The canal is now disused in the Newport area, and ends at Crindau Pill at the bottom of Barrack Hill, nearly a kilometre NNW of Town Pill. Behind and above the mud is the red base of the Steel Wave. Link Newport Bridge, known locally as Town Bridge, is in the background.
