SJ8853 : Chatterley Whitfield Colliery

Chatterley Whitfield Colliery
Chatterley Whitfield Colliery
Photographed from well up the reclaimed spoil heap. It was a very dull day and I've adjusted the levels to give it a bit more punch. The four surviving head gears are clearly seen.

This used to be a major mining museum but has been closed for many years and finances will probably prove to be the final stumbling block leading to its ultimate demise. I do hope the complex can be saved but it is going to be a massively expensive prospect.
