Slowly to the Trent, quickly to work

Shortly before eight o'clock on midsummer morning a narrowboat made its gentle way towards Meadow Lane Lock and the Trent while a cycling commuter hurried towards the city centre along the Nottingham Canal towpath - a popular commuter route from Bridgford in the south and Beeston and Lenton to the west. London Road is to the left and Jurys Inn is reflected in the canal.
