The site of the former "Liquid & Envy" nightclub, originally built as an Odeon cinema, opening on 23 May 1938. It was designed by Andrew Mather, who was the architect for many Odeon cinemas of that period. It closed on 18 October 1975. It reopened as a nightclub in 1976, named "Busby's", later becoming "Millionaires" in the 1980s, 'The British Embassy' in 1996, before its present title in 2002. It finally closed in 2011, and in 2013 a plan was approved to demolish the building, with 61 apartments and a supermarket, retaining the façade. A subsequent proposal then increased the number of apartments to 76. The development was to be called Phoenix Plaza.
However, following financial difficulties worked ceased on this scheme and the site remained derelict, with only the façade remaining, propped up with scaffolding.
In 2017 a new proposal, for a purely residential block of 133 apartments, , now to be called First Point, was approved, no longer including the façade (despite its locally listed status). Here the cleared site is seen across Station Roundabout. Note the "Liquid & Envy" sign still in situ on the left of the photo.
