The High Brooms Brick and Tile Company was founded in the 1885 by John Smith Weare and operated until 1968. The High Brooms brickworks was known to exist in the 1850s. The brickworks was located on an outcrop of Wadhurst Clay. Many of the houses in High Brooms have the HBBC plaque on them. The brickworks now houses High Brooms Industrial Estate. Some of the original buildings can still be found. See LinkExternal link for a longer history.
