Hunterston outloading station
The prominent outloading station by the railway line on the hill above Hunterston was built in 1976 by Butterley Engineering and is the last building standing in the UK built by them. It had capacity of 3500t of iron ore and 2500t of coal. The loader on the left was for iron ore and was last used in 1992, the other was for coal and was used until 2015.
