The fine sandstone monument with its memento mori symbols, situated on the outside wall of the kirk, is decaying badly. The lengthy blazon of the unusual arms is: quarterly 1st and 4th: or a lion rampant gules; 2nd and 3rd: argent a fir tree growing out of a mount in base fructed proper on a chief gules the royal banner of Scotland displayed on a canton of the field, a hand issuing from the sinister side holding a dagger also proper point downwards.
