Homeless in Norwich
Homeless couple by WH Smith's shop in White Lion Street. According to official figures on the levels of rough sleeping across England released in January 2018, 4751 people are estimated to be sleeping rough on any one night. The figure for Norwich was 30. Rough sleeping estimates since 2010 show an increase of 169%, while between 2016 and 2017 there was an increase of 15% nationally.
According to data from the Office for National Statistics, three homeless people died in Great Yarmouth, two in King's Lynn and west Norfolk, three in Norwich and one in south Norfolk in 2018. But councils estimate that 12 people may have died while homeless.
