SH7879 : Blackthorn blossom

taken 4 years ago, near to Deganwy, Conwy, Wales

Blackthorn blossom
Blackthorn blossom
Closely-observed blossom on blackthorn (Prunus spinosa). The blackthorn, and hawthorn (see SH7879 : Diagonal hawthorn) on the steep slopes below Deganwy Castle have very robust twigs at the edge of their canopy. Here the structure of the branches with their sparse spines and very marked fruiting spurs are highlighted against a fine sky.
