Cedar Cottage in The Street, is in two parts. The older part (left) is 17th century, timber framed and plastered. The other part is probably 17th century, timber framed and plastered, raised or possibly rebuilt in the 18th century and altered circa 1850. Both parts are thatched. The small village of Horringer, earlier known as Horningsheath lies astride the A143 road some two miles south west of Bury St Edmunds. The village includes the main entrance to Ickworth Park. There was once three blacksmiths’ forges in the village.
