Samples of dyed wool, the Weaver's House, Spon End, Coventry
These samples of wool dyed with natural dyes were on display at the Weaver's House during the Heritage Weekend in September 2019. Madder is made from the roots of common madder, Rubia tinctorum, and gives a fiery red. Mordants are substances used in dyeing to help fix the dye to the fabric.
