Through the Garden Gate in the Wall at Lamer Street

These three flats are now boarded up and the gardens are full of weeds. Yet years ago these were all wonderful gardens, full of flowers, fruit and veg. There were greenhouses full of tomatoes, neat mown lawns, rose beds, clumps of rhubarb, blackcurrant and gooseberry bushes, raspberry canes and strawberries, plenty of pretty flowers and neat and tidy garden paths. Such a shame how everything has gone to rack and ruin. The East Beach is just across from this gate. This building was formerly the Assembly Rooms built in 1822 a B Listed building, where dances and town gatherings were held. It’s now on the register for Scotland’s Buildings at Risk.
