Descent Into The Dark
I have found that in many places in this area what appears to be a simple hedge forming field boundary, turns out to be yards wide and contain a crossing over a drain or other small water course.
This is an extreme example; the path descends steeply (via steps) to a footbridge over a very youthful Golden Brook.
The brook itself rises at a spring just to the north of this point and continues heading roughly south to Breaston. There it turns eastward and passes though West Park and central Long Eaton to join the Erewash at SK 507336, just yards before that river is dispersed to form Coneries Pond in the Attenborough Nature Reserve, which discharges to the Trent here:
